FUN FACTS

Ironically, the fear of long words is called Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia. The 36-letter word was first used in the first century BC to criticise writers with an unreasonable penchant for long words. Nobody told Wales when they named the railway station Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch that there is a fear of long words.

Trypophobia is the fear of closely packed holes. Or more specifically- an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps.

No crumpets for them then.

Pigeons can tell the difference between Picasso and Monet. A 1995 shows that the birds can differentiate between the two artists.

Who’s the bird brain?

Pack efficiently by using packing cubes, rolling clothes to save space, and sticking to a versatile colour palette for mixing and matching outfits. Wear bulky items like jackets and boots during transit, use travel-sized toiletries, and create a checklist to avoid overpacking.

Cubes: Use these to compartmentalize clothing, keeping items organized and maximizing luggage space. Rolling clothes reduces wrinkles and saves space.

For a week-long trip, pack 5 tops, 4 bottoms, 3 pairs of shoes, 2 layers, and 1 set of accessories.

Pack items in a consistent colour scheme to ensure all clothes can be worn together.

Stuff socks or small items inside shoes to utilize every inch.

Bring laundry detergent sheets for sink washing, to reduce the amount of clothing needed.

Consolidate chargers by using multi-device cables.

Passepartout did and road tested the St. Johann Alpenland Resort, Austria between April – October 2026 from £259.

Verne was determined to reach the peak initially, but halfway up thought a nap might be wiser and descended at a rate of knots for lunch and a much more sedate afternoon. What a wimp!

Julie studied the flora and fauna and decided not to make a daisy chain but leave the flowers in situ for all to enjoy, how very eco friendly of her!

Passepartout tried the yodelling course but sounded more like he had caught his tail in the door, and the local wildlife retreated into the forests for safety, so Passepartout gracefully bowed out to join Verne.

St. Johann Alpenland Resort is perfect for those who want to get active all year round. Close to major ski slopes, winter sports opportunities are excellent, and summer activities such as hiking and cycling are popular. The resort offers four restaurants, a nightclub, shops, an indoor swimming pool, saunas, hot tubs, and a gym for those who want to keep active after a day on the slopes. Less than an hour from Salzburg, it’s a perfect resort for exploring the city.
